Climate Change Impacts on Energy Systems

As renewable energy sources are dependent on the local weather, they do not only contribute to mitigating climate change but are also affected by climate change. With the help of climate models, we can assess how climate change impacts how we can use current and future renewable energy sources. In this research area, we aim to quantify the impact of climate change, the potential of individual resources under a changing climate, and the uncertainty in this quantification.

Main Research Interests:

  • Probabilistic climate model downscaling of energy relevant variables using deep learning
  • Multi-decadal wind power forecasting
